Texte d’exposition
La présence du texte d’exposition est devenue aujourd’hui si évidente qu’une exposition sans celui-ci est considérée comme incomplète.
Inachevée.
Dérivé du texte de presse et destiné à fournir aux critiques des informations générales sur l’artiste et l’exposition, le texte oscille entre l’œuvre et le visiteur.Cela prive ce dernier de la possibilité d’une approche spontanée. Le texte d’exposition et son langage générique opèrent comme un passe-partout s’adressant à l’ensemble du public. L’œuvre d’art, quant à elle, fait appel à l’imagination de chacun.
Le dialogue entre l’œuvre et le visiteur est personnel et résulte d’un double effort. Le dévouement de l’artiste nécessite un engagement de l’amateur d’art pour que la rencontre avec l’œuvre puisse avoir lieu.
Le texte au début d’une exposition entrave le développement de cette capacité d’empathie envers une œuvre, condition fondamentale pour pouvoir apprécier l’art encore et encore.

The presence of an exhibition text has become so self-evident these days that an exhibition without one is considered incomplete. Unfinished.
Derived from the press release, which is meant to provide critics with background information about the artist and the exhibition, the exhibition text inserts itself between the artwork and the visitor. This deprives the latter of the opportunity to approach the work with an open mind. Besides, with its generic use of language, the exhibition text is written for a broad public. The artwork, however, speaks to the imagination of each person individually.
The dialogue between the artwork and the visitor is personal, the result of a twofold effort. The dedication of the artist requires a commitment from the art lover so the encounter with the artwork could take place.
An exhibition text at the beginning of an exhibition impedes the development of the ability to empathise with the work, the very prerequisite for being able to appreciate art again and again.

Text zur Ausstellung
Die Anwesenheit des Ausstellungstextes ist heute so selbstverständlich geworden, dass eine Ausstellung ohne ihn als unvollständig angesehen wird.
Unvollendet.
Als Ableitung des Pressetextes, der Kritikern Hintergrundinformationen zum Künstler und zur Ausstellung liefern soll, gleitet der Ausstellungstext zwischen Kunstwerk und Besucher. Das nimmt letzterem die Möglichkeit, unvoreingenommen hinzuschauen. Darüber hinaus ist der Ausstellungstext mit seiner generischen Sprache ein Passepartout, das sich an die gesamte Öffentlichkeit richtet. Das Kunstwerk hingegen spricht die Vorstellungskraft jedes Einzelnen an.
Der Dialog zwischen Kunstwerk und Besucher ist persönlich und das Ergebnis einer zweifachen Bemühung. Die Hingabe des Künstlers erfordert ein Engagement des Kunstliebhabers, damit die Begegnung mit dem Kunstwerk stattfinden kann.
Außerdem behindert der Ausstellungstext zu Beginn einer Ausstellung die Entwicklung der Fähigkeit, sich in das Werk einzufühlen, eine Voraussetzung, um Kunst immer wieder neu zu schätzen.
